How long is the duck hunting season in Uruguay?
Duck hunting in Uruguay begins...May 1st...yep, opening day is May 1. And duck hunting in Uruguay lasts until September 15th. The season is good year round and the early season (May to June) is mainly teal. Lots of teal. The end of June throughout September, the ducks in Uruguay are large and species such as the Rosybill Pochard. The season is long and while it is hitting hot temperatures that you can't wait to see or feel relief from, Uruguay has winter time with temperatures in the 40's to the 60's and ducks flying overhead, coming into the decoys. Oh..the duck hunting in Uruguay.
How many days should we plan for duck hunting in Uruguay?
Oh the questions?!? But most of our duck hunters like to come for 4 days. Some do come for 5, remember though, you are in the middle of rice fields in Uruguay (no MTV here!) and the internet connections can be slow (Facebook friends will have to wait), so 4 days is a good duck hunting trip in Uruguay. But, we do provide and can plan for 3 days, especially if you are doing a combo with dove hunting in Uruguay or Argentina or some travel time in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
What kind of shotguns do we need to pack and how do I bring a shotgun to Uruguay?
First, Los Gauchos does not require you to bring a shotgun. Our duck hunting rates include the use of Benelli or Berettas. Those who wish to bring their favorite shotgun to Uruguay may do so. Los Gauchos provides the one form required 30 days before you depart and once you arrive at the Uruguay airport (Montevideo) you will be issued a temporary gun license for your shotgun. There is a gun license fee. All of the paperwork and license processing is done before you arrive, so you may also pay for the gun license before you depart the US. Contact our office if you need the form or have questions about bringing a gun into Uruguay. Don't worry, we've done it. We have traveled from DFW and MIA with shotguns, so let us answer any questions you may have about traveling with a shotgun.
What is the limit of ducks in Uruguay? I am ready for some good duck hunting? Tell me.
OK -- good news. The only limits we place is the number or boxes of shotgun shells each duck hunter receives. Three boxes in the morning and three in the afternoon and as many ducks as you can get. So, enjoy the duck hunting in Uruguay. Los Gauchos does represent and support Delta Waterfowl and Ducks Unlimited and while we operate in Uruguay, this is a sport and sportsmen are what we cater to. Duck hunting in Uruguay is a good, and we do believe in "taking 'em" but we also provide duck hunting to 8 hunters per week and we also like to make sure there is a budget and no surprises on your shell bill at the end of your duck hunt. The gauchos that work on the rice farms and the staff often take the ducks for their families to eat and many of the local schools take a pile of them to feed school kids and others in the small towns.
